We accept submissions on a rolling basis; however, to be considered for the 2026 print magazine, submit by
March 8, 2026.

What We Publish

We accept any work created by a current or former student, faculty member, or staff member of Southeastern University from all disciplines, including, but not limited to:

  • Creative Writing (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, etc.)

  • Short screenplays

  • Photography and Visual Art (must be accompanied by a brief description)

  • Book and Film Reviews (500-600 words)

  • Critical & Interdisciplinary Works

  • Hybrid works

Our Review Process

Faculty, alumni, and undergraduate editors at Southeastern University review submissions and recommend a course of action for the work. The submissions are read by a member of the editorial staff. Keep in mind the following:

 

  • Submission to Oracle implies that all authors have read and agreed to its content.

  • Oracle reserves the right to reject submitted work at any time during the review process.

  • All submissions must not be under consideration, in part or in whole, by any other publication, nor should the work have already been published in any citable form.

  • Work must be original.

Submission Guidelines

Length
  • ​We accept submissions of fiction and creative nonfiction of no more than 1,500 words

  • We accept no more than 5 entries of poetry and hybrid works per author for each edition.

Content
  • We look for original, outstanding work that is of interest and impact to the Oracle audience. Accepted work will contribute meaningfully to the undergraduate knowledge base.

  • We work in a community that upholds Biblical principles and Christ-like values. We will publish accordingly.

  • We will not accept work that contains plagiarized, defamatory, or inappropriate content. Submitted material must not infringe existing copyrights or the rights of a third party. 

  • We look closely at grammar, language, and syntax. At this time, we only accept works written in English.

Additional Guidelines for Research Papers

  • Research carried out on human subjects must comply with the 2009 Helsinki Declaration: including IRB approvals, waivers and permissions forms and other related permissions sent to Oracle. 

  • The methods section of the work must include a statement indicating the name of the body that gave ethical approval.

Format

  • Include the title and genre of your submission in the file name/subject line. 

  • Submissions must be sent in a .doc, .docx, or .jpeg format.

  • All colors must be in CMYK.

  • Tables, figures, and images should be .jpg format.

  • Images including graphics, paintings or sculpted works need to be shot with a soft filter at 300 dpi minimum.

  • We critique critical and interdisciplinary works according to their respective discipline style guides. ORACLE recommends using owl.purdue.edu for citation formatting help.

  • For titles, capitalize only the first word and proper nouns (does not apply to creative work).

  • Ensure that all Greek letters and special characters are properly embedded.
